An interactive study of the Design Process

click to add Idler Gears
When you have finished with this page, click to add these gears to the model and move on to Step 8.
After the model was built and assessed, it was apparent that the central gear concept did not communicate clearly the idea that the steps in the Design Process flow one from the next. Instead, each step seemed related only to the center, which itself did not really symbolize anything.

The final model was designed to communicate these ideas more clearly. Each element is turned by the actions of the previous element, and the whole model forms a circular diagram - a better representation of a process - coincidentally leaving room for the title in the middle!
