SPIN Magazine Discovers Octothorpe
The boys hit the big time with "Binoculars"

February, 2002, SPIN Magazine -
In the "50 Greatest Rock Bands of All Time" issue of SPIN magazine, in a light-hearted article on the on-line songwriting community and resources for songwriters, Douglas Wolk writes:
"Octothorpe's take on 'It's A Shame My Binoculars Don't Work At Night' sounds like it's performed by Kermit The Frog driven to severe psychological disassociation from years of fronting a death-metal band."
This review extends the ranks of muppets that Octothorpe has been compared to to include the lovable Kermit. Previous comparisons had been made to Oscar the Grouch and the Cookie Monster.
Other reviewers have noted more human similiarities, including the likes of John Astin, Gilbert Gottfried, and Colin Mochrie.
As an unexpected and unexplainable response to the news, several fellow songfighters rushed to the official Octothorpe website and took the Octothorpe Quiz. None fared any better than fifty percent.
As for the severe psychological disassociation, it's sad but true. Can Pepsi commercials be far behind?
